My Storytelling Journey

It all started when…

When I was a child, my parents read several newspapers at the breakfast table. This often started conversations about our small town, N. Cape May, NJ, and the world around us. My first interest in storytelling was in reading the comics. Later on, during elementary school, we were often asked to pull articles from a newspaper to share with the class about local news and timely events like elections. I’ve always enjoyed storytelling in various formats; books and magazines, and later movies, websites, and most recently, podcasts.

My parents were big readers; my mother loved mysteries and my dad enjoyed history books and biographies. My grandmother wrote a book about her family’s history. My sister has written a book about family and legacy. All have been life-long learners and I now have a family who owns and borrows tons of books, which are everywhere in my kitchen, living room, and spilling off of bookshelves. Reading inspires me reflect, to think critically, and to write.

There are so many ways to tell a story and I enjoy piecing together the threads to weave a story that pulls readers in. I enjoyed writing short stories as an undergrad and learning the craft of journalism during my graduate program. Since that time I have written dozens of articles on cancer care, cancer prevention, supportive care, integrative medicine, and the interplay of technology and medicine.

How can I help you tell your story?
